A study by J.D. Power has revealed that the reliability of US public EV charging stations is lacking, with at least one in five charging attempts failing last year, rising to almost two in five in some instances. According to the Electric Vehicle Experience Public Charging Study, the failure rate increased from 15% in Q1 2021 to more than 21% by Q3 2022, with software hiccups, vandalism, payment processing errors and the unavailability of chargers cited as the most common reasons for unsuccessful charging attempts.
