SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Cyber Switching, a leading provider and innovator of power distribution and power management solutions, announced today that the ePower® intelligent power distribution unit (iPDU) has received a 2010 Smart Grid Excellence Award from Technology Marketing Corporation‘s (TMC®) and Intelligent Communications Partners (ICP).

“Cyber Switching is thrilled to have the ePower iPDU recognized with a 2010 Smart Grid Excellence Award,” said Tom Schoepf, Sr. Product Manager at Cyber Switching.  “The ePower was specifically designed and built from the ground up to expand a datacenter’s power grid into the Smart Grid.”

ePower helps customers manage their power grid by providing critical metering data over remote management capabilities such as HTTP/S, Web Services, SSH, Telnet, Syslog, SMTP, and Cisco® EnergyWise.  With ePower, customers lower operational costs, identify energy reduction opportunities, and even incentivize energy users to manage their own power consumption.  For a colocation or enterprise datacenter with several groups of users, real-time power usage can now be tracked and attributed to each individual user, allowing the datacenter to charge customers based on actual usage and aligning user behavior with power reduction benefits.

“I am pleased to honor Cyber Switching for its hard work and contribution toward the future of smart grid technologies,” said Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC.  “I look forward to more innovation from Cyber Switching in the future,” he added.

Winners are published on SmartGrid.TMCnet.com.
